Codesign

Codesign is a creative process that focuses on giving users an active role in the design of the objects, systems or spaces they will eventually interact with.

With the goal of creating acceptable products and environments that properly respond to the needs of the targeted end-users, more and more designers use codesign workshops in their practice (also known as collaborative design, participatory design, or cocreation) where end users’ ideas, vision and talents are put to good use in a structured framework guided by design professionals. Codesign is now common practice, but it was first studied extensively in the 80s and 90s by American design professionals and academics before being more widely adopted.
